This wine is named "Lagara", which in the local dialect of Abdera means pure, unpolluted water (derived from the Ancient Greek adjective "lagaros", meaning clear, pure). Lagara Red is a blend of 50% Merlot, 30% Syrah, and 20% Pamidi. It exhibits a deep purple color, with aromas of wild cherry, blueberry, vanilla, and pastry cream, followed by distinct smoky notes and a rich ta
nnic palate. Aging in selected oak barrels (225 liters capacity) for 18 months gives it the potential for long-term maturation and its characteristic long finish.
Before bottling, Pamidi wine (from the current vintage’s anaerobic tanks) is added to the final blend to enhance the perception of fruitiness in the finished wine. Bottling is done without filtration. After bottling, the wine is stored in the estate’s underground cellars under controlled temperature and humidity conditions for at least six months before being released to the market.
